A message from Ultimate Outdoors

With all that is happening around the country and the world at the moment, we would like to reach out to you, our customers. We want to say how much we appreciate your support and to update you on how we are approaching the COVID-19 situation.

This is a challenging time for our community. Those of us who love the outdoors are faced with the looming prospect of having to stay inside for a while. Our staff across the business will continue doing everything possible to ensure that your orders reach you in a timely manner.

However, we in the JD Outdoors Family are committed to helping limit the impact of COVID-19. This is a worrying time for many and we want to reassure you that we are taking everything into consideration to ensure the wellbeing of our team and customers.

As such we have been taking necessary steps:

  • Restricting all inessential travel and minimising journeys between business sites
  • Providing staff, wherever possible, with the flexibility to work from home or a safe environment
  • Closely following Government and NHS advice on hygienic and responsible working practice
  • Providing team members with support, reassurance and flexibility should they feel unwell or anxious about the current climate

An Update on Our Stores

From Friday 24th July, face coverings must be worn in all stores as per government guidance. Where possible please bring your own, however masks will be provided in store if you require one. Since lockdown began we have been listening daily to all the latest information given to us and feel that we have a much better understanding now around what is required when it comes to the safety of our team and customers alike. Following advice given by the government and health officials, we have taken the decision to reopen our stores in England from Monday 15th June with new measures in place to keep our staff and customers safe. When in store, please adhere to the guidance and we look forward to welcoming you back to store. Our stores outside of England will remain closed until government advice permits. Our website remains open 24/7 for your convenience.

To ensure your safety in our stores, please take note of the following guidance

  • Clear and visible social distancing guidance will be in store with routes clearly marked to help you navigate the store safely.
  • Cleaning stations will be placed at store entrances.
  • Frequent deep cleaning of the store will take place throughout the day.
  • We may need to limit the number of customers allowed in store at any one time, especially in busy departments.
  • Our changing rooms will be temporarily closed. We have placed mirrors around the store.
  • Cleaning stations will be placed at store entrances.
  • Contactless card payment limits have been extended to £45 to reduce the need for physical contact or cash payments.
  • Only one person is to use in-store lifts at any time, and we ask that you avoid passing people on staircases.

Crucially, please continue to follow social distancing guidelines set out by the government and do not enter the store if you have COVID-19 symptoms. These include:

  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • A persistent cough
  • Changes in your sense of taste or smell

Though the current situation is uncertain, we can be sure that the outdoors is out there waiting for us on the other side of all this. We remain dedicated to providing you with the gear, advice and informed content to keep the spirit of adventure alive. Our customer service team stand-by to answer your questions, our emails are still going out, and look out for blogs and social channels to help you get the best from the next few weeks.

Times may seem tough right now. But you are never far from our thoughts and together we will weather this storm. We deeply value your continued support, and hope to return that wherever we can. For now, look after yourselves and each other, take a break from the news, and remember, Boris says you can still go for a walk! If you are going to go outdoors, do it responsibly.

Take care and keep safe

Latest updates

Below you will be able to see all of the latest updates and changes that Ultimate Outdoors has made to deal with the current outbreak of COVID-19

Face Coverings required in All Stores

Following advice given by the government and health officials, from Friday 25th July, you must wear a facecovering in all stores. Where possible please bring your own, however masks will be provided in store if you require one. Please check out our store finder for more information.

Nottingham and Kingston Stores Reopen

Our Nottingham and Kingston stores have reopened with social distancing measures in place to protect our customers and staff. Please be prepared to queue outside if asked and follow all guidelines once in the store.

Extended delivery times

Due to an increase in demand for our products online and the following of strict safety measures, deliveries are taking longer than usual. This is to allow us to be able to follow social distancing measures and ensure orders get to customers safely. We estimate orders will reach most customers in 7-10 working days and we thank you for your continued patience.

Extended Store Returns

We are extending out returns policy to make life a little easier. Any purchase made in stores before the temporary closure can be returned up to 28 days after stores reopen.

Contact-less Door Step Delivery

We have now introduced contact-less delivery on all products. Delivered risk-free straight to your doorstep.

Measures Taken in Distribution Centre

We have taken every possible measure to protect our colleagues in our distribution centre during these difficult times. This includes introducing 2m social distancing throughout all areas and making hand sanitiser, wipes and PPE equipment freely available. We have also implemented staggered shifts and identified an isolation room for anyone who starts to show symptoms of Covid-19.

Store Closures

We all want to do our bit to help halt the spread of COVID 19. The health and wellbeing of our staff and customers is of the utmost importance to us and we have made the decision to close our stores for the time being.

Our stores will close from the end of business today, Monday 23rd March. This is a temporary measure and we will reopen as soon as things improve and it is advisable. In the meantime we remain online and available 24/7 with flexible delivery options and an extended return policy to give you peace of mind.

We want to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of our customers for their continued support in this challenging climate. We can’t wait to see you all soon in the outdoors.
